Fluoroscopy is much like an x-ray, except the image is projected in real time. It is often described as a video of what is currently happening inside you. The newest technology provides a very high resolution, creating an image with better clarity. The result is increased diagnostic accuracy.
Pre-Exam Instructions
Esophagram:
- DO NOT eat, drink, or smoke after midnight.
- You can expect a pre-scan review of your medical history, previous testing and insurance information.

Upper GI:
- DO NOT eat, drink, or smoke after midnight.
- You can expect a pre-scan review of your medical history, previous testing and insurance information.

Small Bowel:

IVP:
- A 48-hour prep is required with a special kit. Please pick up the kit at least 2 days before your appointment.
- Please alert the staff if you have ever had I.V. contrast reaction
- You can expect a pre-scan review of your medical history, previous testing and insurance information.
